Beskrivelse:Andrzej Wajda’s “SIBERIAN LADY MACBETH” is based on Semyonovich Leskov’s novel, “LADY MACBETH OF THE MTSENSK DISTRICT”.
The heroine, married to a rich old trader, falls madly in love with Sergei, a man working at her husband’s flour mills, and commits a series of crimes for his sake. The tragic story comes to an end with the heroine murdering him and committing suicide. The film constitutes a typical example of Wajda’s cinematography, which is dominated by the senses and a dramatic style.
